They/we did it!

Amazing!

Taking a decision to break through dominant political and military power with peace and ingenuity actually had a result. Mmmm, makes me think, what else, what next, where else? If I, you could take this level of vision and with a few years work go for it - what would you/I target? I'm back home and despite the pretty hills and romantic clouds, know that injustice is seeped into the infrastructure of my country.

9 of the passengers have remained in Gaza. And 9 Palestinians boarded the boats for the return journey to Cyprus.
Here is an update from Dr. Bill....
"Yesterday, British Journalist Lauren Booth and I attempted to exit via Eretz Crossing into Israel, accompanied by sick Palestinians needing specialty care not available in Gaza.

The Israeli border guards threatened to shoot us, but we advanced slowly with our arms raised holding our passports up high; We advanced right through the tunnel right up to the iron gate, but the Israelis would not open it. The US and British Embassy's gave us the Royal run around and would not help us.

So after a visit to Beit Hanoun to see the Al Athamna Family, who are still in a state of grief from the massacre of 19 members of their family by Israeli mortar shells 2 years ago, we headed back to Gaza City. So now we are waiting for the Egyptian authorities to let us out of Gaza through Rafah. They are under pressure from Israel to keep us trapped in here. Now I am getting a better appreciation of what it means to be a Palestinian from Gaza."

Several news reports question whether Tony Blair - Middle East Envoy for Quartet would intervene.
... an article titled "Where is Tony Blair?"
With his many hats, fingers in pies around the world, how can someone satisfy so many big wigs and create fundamental change? A pro-Palestine move may require tough talks with Israel, which in turn could upset the many Western deals Israel thrives on.
The political system is not designed for positive change. Leaders, powers, people - cling to yesterdays bloodshed. Trust long ago lays shattered, our backs turned, doors closed, eyes slanted.
My grand hope is that well meaning peace envoys could create the revolution humanity needs. Imagine the big wigs at the table saying 'yes'.

Recently Quartet/Blair promoted a mobile phone development across Palestine, designed to economically benefit Palestinians with agreement from Israel.
Also, in the West Bank checkpoints are being modified. Tony Blair said: “This will be an important test over the coming months to show how progressively the occupation can be lifted.” Once check points no longer check and are free flowing, when will previous enemies be brothers and sisters united in life?

Meanwhile Gaza remains politically untouchable, 1.5 million citizens suffering and imprisoned.
Two small boats, a booty of grandmas and hearing aids chug along without sharp tools or weapons creating holes in prison walls.
